180 Degrees

What this nice fall, pumpkin patch, hayride photo doesn't show you is what was to be found 180 degrees in the other direction. And that would be the enitre population of the greater Portland Metro area out on Sauvie Island getting their pumpkins on Sunday afternoon. If we'd thought for 10 seconds we could have guessed it. But we didn't. The siren song of a crisp, sunny fall day clouded all of our judgement. And it really was beautiful. And it really was busy. And we really did wait in a very long line of cars to get back over the bridge. But once we were across, the line of cars coming in stretched for at least two miles. And then I was really glad that we were heading home, pumpkins thumping together in the back of the van.

we did the pumpkin patch thing on Sunday too. hasn't this weather been amazing??? i keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. last soccer season i feel like we spent every game huddling under umbrellas and shivering. think we're in for it when winter eventually hits?

Hi there! Happy to find a new posting. We have made the decision to NOT do the pumpkin patch this fall because Nick and I are so over picking pumpkins in 90 degree California weather!!! The mornnings and evenings are perfect...cool, crisp...you can even see your breath. But come 10am, and break out the shorts and sun block. It is just not the autumn season I remember and miss so very much. SO thank you for the lovely photo. Your little pumpkins are so beautiful and have grown so much. I think of you all opften...still. Much love-Laura and family

Wow it sounds like pumpkin patches are the biggest thing near Halloween where you live. I have read a few blogs where they take the kids to them. Over here we dont have Halloween nearly as big, but it is starting to catch on. Your family photo looks so cute too.
